Salt Lake County Base Station (Midvale)

The Salt Lake County Surveyors Office has completed the CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station) Station at 7125 South 600 West. This site provide reference data for post-processed surveys, real-time surveying, geodetic work, and GIS applications. The system will consist of a Trimble 4700 GPS receiver utilizing Trimble Reference Station (TRS) software. This data will be available to the public vie internet access. This site will also broadcast real-time centimeter positioning accuracy via a radio link to roving user radios. (Note: Users will need to have the appropriate frequencies installed in their roving systems.) When all of the GPS Base Stations are in place, the Surveyors Office will coordinate efforts to have NGS (National Geodetic Survey) bluebook the positions. We will ultimately have county-wide coverage, utilizing one rover system, switching to the appropriate area broadcast frequency.

Salt Lake County Monument Reference/History Sheet

The Salt Lake County Surveyor's Office can now provide a listing of all Section Corners, Quarter Corners and Center of Section Corners that have been located in the field. Monument Reference/History Sheets are now available through this website. Some sheets will have monument State Plane Coordinates (NAD83) and elevations (NAVD88). A history and description of the monument will also be provided. In the future, the Reference/History Sheet will reference G.P.S./R.T.K. observation sheets, distance and angle sheets to that particular monument. This information is also available over the counter.

Monument Permit

Under Chapter 14.17 of Salt Lake County Ordinances the Monument Permit (revised September 1, 2000) serves as an instrument for Salt Lake County to reference monuments in jeopardy of being removed or disturbed. It allows the County Surveyor's office to verify new monument point(s) or reference existing monuments subject to damage or removal. The permitee shall be responsible for the re-monumentation of existing or installation of new monument(s). At this point in time, permits are being done for Sandy, Draper, South Jordan and Taylorsville. Other municipalities have yet to adopt the ordinance.

The Salt Lake County Surveyors Office is generating new Area Reference Plats (ARP's) in Township 4 South Range(s) 1 East and 2 West, many of which are now available. We will continue to add additional ARP's as data is obtained.
